Machu Picchu :: Arrival ::
A halting arrival to Machu Picchu as the sun shines brightly upon its midst. Yet, it is the unseen area of this photo that is so moving. Dramatic peaks (hidden by clouds in this photo) wrap around Machu Picchu. So, when standing amongst the ruins, you are really standing upon a stage. When the gray cloak lifts, an audience of mountains stares at you and offers endless applause. This inexplicable celebration of humanity -- and you -- is perhaps found nowhere else on earth.
