Arequipa :: Hotel Rooftop ::
On the eve of the Chachani expedition, I stare lazily upon her from the rooftop of my hotel. From this view, I can see the steeple of the Convento Santa Catalina as well. What my photo misses is the other towering peak of Arequipa. Nearby El Misti is a momentous volcano whose crater recently unearthed mummified child sacrifices. Yet the popular volcano lacks the splendor and heights offered by neighboring Chachani.
