Arequipa :: Landing ::
With little time for richer reflection, I board a plane to Arequipa. There is a single reason that I depart to this edge of the Andes, where the air is dry and the landscape is barren. My mission is to climb the peak just beyond the plane, Mount Chachani. Stumbling off the jet, I gather up my camera and frame this photo. The summit reaches 20,000 feet into the heavens.
